This is a classic record store. Alan is a delight, so kind, knowledgeable and funny. The shop is stacked full of records and it's priced incredibly well, you know, like the owner thinks music is for everyone. You can take a tenner in or a tonne and you'll leave with something great and a smile. Shops like this won't exist forever so please make the journey.
I have been buying records at Alan’s for over 10 years. I have bought some of my best records there. The shop has amazing variety and Alan’s extensive knowledge make it my favourite record shop in London.
Alan's Records is one of those shops where just about every available space is stacked to overflowing with records, on the shelves, the tables, under the tables, on the floor, its sometimes difficult to move around but I love it. If you cannot find a particular record then ask the owner as he might have it in the back storeroom. The last couple of times I visited I found that the shop was closed, even on the days the website states it's open. I heard that the owner has some health problems at the moment, but I think the shop is still open on Saturdays. Maybe phone ahead.
If there’s a better second-hand record shop In London, taking account of the quality of stock, price, friendliness of the owner and chance to listen before you buy, then I’ve yet to find it. Unearthed nine great albums for a total of £70, including Dylan, Joni, Van and Carole King, and Alan said: you can have them for £65 if you want to pay cash (there’s a cash point at Sainsbury’s about 150m up the road). Then he offered to take back any albums that didn’t play well (all have been fine after a good clean - what you’d expect from 50-year-old records). My first visit definitely won’t be my last.
The 5 star reviews are totally justified and I have to add one myself! I have very recently gotten into the world of record collecting and this is by far the best gem I've visited in London so far. Okay, it may be further out and a little walk from the nearest tube station but boy is it worth it! There is so much choice that it's no surprise the store was totally crowded when I visited. True to what others have said, Alan is a very lovely guy, complimenting me on my choice of music, and like other users, reduced the total price of what I picked up, without me even asking for an offer. Definitely going back here again! Alan, keep up the good work mate!

27 Pratt Street, London
All Ages Records is the best record shop in London. Last January, I visited the city for a romantic weekend getaway, and it was unthinkable for me not to rummage through bins filled with records. After a few recommendations from friends, All Ages Records made it onto my shortlist. I finally went there on the first night and came out with a record by Defeater, one by Pianos Become the Teeth and one by Knocked Loose. The staff are passionate and engaging, happy to make recommendations based on our selection and also promoting local bands. They have a very comprehensive selection, covering both old school and modern hardcore and all possible derivatives. I can't wait to go back and chat to them about my upcoming gigs.
All Ages Records is a must-visit for punk rock enthusiasts, offering a carefully curated selection of vinyl, CDs, and merchandise from classic and underground punk bands. The staff are passionate and knowledgeable, creating a welcoming space for both longtime fans and newcomers. The store has an authentic vibe, with posters and memorabilia decorating the walls, making it more than just a shop — it’s a community hub for punk culture. Whether you’re hunting rare finds or discovering new music, All Ages Records delivers a unique and gritty experience that celebrates the spirit of punk.
A really great record store with a super-friendly owner. I visited All Ages Records on my very first day in London (and England). I researched a bit the days before - where to get some vinyl that is not so "mainstreamish". On my next trip to London, I'll definitely go back there again to check / buy some records. A great place for fans of punk / hardcore! Support your local record shop!
A must-visit record shop if you’re interested in punk/metal. It has the best selection of music in various formats, and a fantastic choice of t-shirts, bags, badges, books etc too. We visited from Ireland and would’ve bought a lot more if we weren’t getting back on a plane. London punks are so lucky to have this on their doorstep. The owner wasn’t working when we were there, but we got chatting to the guy who served us, and he couldn’t have been more friendly and knowledgeable if he’d tried; he’s exactly who you want working in your punk shop. It took us seven years to return after our first visit, and I’m hoping it won’t be as long until the next.
Punk, Hardcore paradise. If I ever hit Eurojackpot I will buy this place and live happy life. Everything is super organized, local records have a sticker with description. Rare records, colors, music playing and lot of information about shows around. The star is employee Archie, had a one of nicest chat about scene and records in a while. This is UK version of Core-Tex record store in Berlin. Go there if you like this kind of music.
Music dealer for punk and hardcore fans selling vinyl, CDs, books, fanzines and gig tickets.

96 White Post Lane, London, E9 5EN
One of the best-value Sunday roasts in East London. The staff are really friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the overall vibe makes it a great place to spend a Sunday. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Great place for a vegan meal. The staff is lovely and helpful. The decor is vintage and warehouse, so the seating is beer benches and so on! There are two other eateries on site (one BBQ and the other Pizza), which means every taste is catered for.
This is a lovely local bar with a lot of options throughout the day. In the mornings they have a cafe and record store available with a bartender on hand most times I've been by. Later in the day the cafe and record stores close and depending on the day, there's either a pizza spot open outside, or a Sunday roast kitchen operating inside. There was a different indoor vendor at one point and I assume there'll be another one soon for the rest of the week. I'm usually only here once or twice in a couple months but the atmosphere is calm and relaxed during the day, even for families, and tends to get a lot louder and busier as the sun sets
Came here on a Thursday night and sat on the terrace vibes were so nice, crowded in a nice way where it’s not overwhelming! There was a DJ inside also. Plus they had 2 for 1 cocktails! The pizza was also good!
All My Friends absolutely delivered. The music was pure nostalgia — the kind that has you screaming lyrics you didn’t know you still remembered. Staff were lovely, the vibe was great, and the dance floor saw some very confident (questionable) moves. Will definitely be back for the throwbacks and the delicious cocktails 🍹

8 Clarence Road, London, E5 8HB
I had been curious about this place ever since Jamie xx recommended it in an interview, and it turned out to be even more wonderful than I expected. When I visited the record shop, the shop owner offered me a warm cup of coffee—it was the first time I’d ever experienced that. The shop was filled with fascinating records organized by genre and category. I was so excited that I wandered around, digging through every corner. The warm and friendly atmosphere made even a stranger like me forget I was a visitor in a foreign country. The owner patiently listened to my clumsy English and did his best to understand me. Thanks to his smile and the coffee, I felt happy for the rest of the day. The two vinyl records I picked up at random When I went to pay, the owner said they were a great choice—and he was absolutely right. Listening to them later proved it.
Very literally the spot of all spots. It is total record sensory overload. This shop doesn't only have an excessive amount of records to dig through, it has an excessive amount of incredible records from around the world to dig through. I have never been in a record shop like this, where I feel like if I won the billion dollar Powerball in the states I would just come here and buy them out and then buy a house with a very comfortable chair and incredible Soundsystem and just sit and listen for the rest of my life. The owners are so nice and cool and chill and will talk to you about music and whatever else unlike so many other stereotypical record store workers (as immortalized in film and real life). I won't go too far into detail just come here and figure it all out for yourself. I don't care about money in general but I really need to become a Zillionaire because of the existence of this shop (also their prices are fair and not over the top but they have SO MUCH GOODNESS!) So yeah, zillions.
Just wanted to say how delighted I am to have found Atlantis Records. I had a record collection of around 3-4 hundred albums that I had been considering selling for quite some time. I found it a difficult decision even though I hadn't played them for quite a few years. I contacted Atlantis and received a reply from Liam within 15 minutes. Within the hour they confirmed that John would visit my home 4 days later to value my collection. It was a pleasure going through my records with John. He was both very knowledgeable and a delight to deal with. He explained that they aimed to pay 50% of what they thought they could sell them for. Having come to an agreement on price he settled payment immediately and swiftly removed my collection. Two days later John contacted me and said that they had sold one of my records for considerably more than they expected, so they would like to pay me more, which was 50% of the sale price. Wow! How amazing was that. I would whole heartedly recommend Liam & John if you have a collection to sell. You couldn't find a nicer and more honest pair of guys. Thank you for making what was a difficult and emotional decision easier. I feel that my records will pass on to people that will really appreciate them. Thank you again guys. Les.
This was one of the nicest shops I’ve been to. Looks a bit chaotic with almost every horizontal surface used to stack records, but several well organised bins, good stuff to dig, decent prices, and most of all an utterly friendly shop owner. Had a lovely short chat. Thanks!
Good selection and friendly service. Loads of “character” ( and "characters" ). One of the decks ( the one at the back ) is plugged to a half broken mixer which is not only noisy but it's a liability, i damaged my hearing forever listening to music in a trashed dj mixer like that which blasted my ears randomly with noise. I’m taking two stars off for health and safety, i’m sure it’s an easy fix. Come off peak if you would like to listen to records as the store isn't big and walking around and listening to the records can be difficult if there are other customers around.

348 Camberwell New Rd, London SE5 0RW, United Kingdom
We went to the SXSE festival at Dash The Henge in Camberwell on Saturday to see Evan Williams amongst others play. What a great shop! So much interesting vinyl and books, I could have spent all day there. Not only do they have great merch, but they have regular live music and beer and cocktails and really helpful staff - what's not to love! If you're a fan of recorded and live music you'll love this little gem. Sadly no decent photos of the shop so here's some of Evan playing so you can get an idea of the live music side 😊
Good range of albums at a reasonable price, plus a section for local artists and the shop's own label. Friendly staff and apparently really good coffee. What more do you need from a record shop?
Great little venue for up and coming band's starting out on their musical journey. It's got a lovely little coffee shop come bar attached to it, where they pump the music through if you don't want to get involved and just chill. It's well worth a visit, even if it's just to flick through and purchase some great music.
Hands down, best place in Camberwell. The vast array of live music is amazing. Not to mention their great selection of vinyl and other music related trinkets, gotta love the super 7's.
Great record shop. Chris was really friendly. Some choice selections on the wall. Soul, jazz, funk, global, reggae, electronica, and usual artists new and second hand. Brilliant local artists section idea. T shirts and other bits there too. Worth a look! Thanks 😊

35a Middle Yard, Camden Lock Place, London, NW1 8AF
This is my second record shop focus, so I invite you to Meet Tony Massive, the owner of Massive International. You will find him in the back of the shop playing sweet reggae tunes in his amazing record shop situated in a cavern of Reggae at 43 Middle yard Camden market. If you love reggae music then this is a must visit, you can browse and buy old 45’s with no middles which were used on historic sound systems it’s a vinyl junkies heaven. The shop is full of classic hard to find reggae music, you can even find the thousand volts of holt LP. The shop is historic and takes you back to the days when you would religiously go to buy the latest tunes from Jamaica 🇯🇲 every Saturday morning. The shop has been there since 1989 selling movies, cassettes, LP’s and clothing. You can also buy the original dreadlocks hats that are so hard to find.
Great record store with a variety of dub, techno, jamaican, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's music. Really funny Clerk. Great vibe. Located in the awesome Camden Town. Highly recommend checking this store out if you want to get some authentic vinyl's. Also, great sound system which attracts the public with their awesome bass😎👍👌
Loads of reggae, roots, dub and uk vinyl, as well as other styles! Great atmosphere and full good vibes! Blessings
Wonderful music and cultured retail store Staff are super helpful and the vinyls on offer are rare and excellent Staff were very helpful and considerate Super worth a visit if your looking for that rare record or something cultural clothing or unusual articles from Africa or the Caribbean Highly recommend a visit 👌
The most amazing place for roots dub and dancehall music not only in Camden but all over Central London you get immersed in the spirit of Jamaica with music and traditional clothes, hats and accessories. Great collection from roots, dub to dancehall as well as quite a large amount of audio CDs. Respect, mi bredda !!!

320-322 Creek Road, London, SE10 9SW
This is an attractive record store that would be of interest to generalists, meaning collectors of multiple genres. There is a strong Brit-rock and pop collection -- not surprising given the tourist nature of the neighbourhood. Prices seemed ok for London. Not sure I would go back, as I mostly buy jazz and post-punk. But worth a visit if you are touring around the area.
I'm surprised by the variety of music that i found here, there's really a lot of stuff, by the way i loved the vibes of the place, you can really feel a different environment when you enter the store and it was comfortable to be there, either with some friends or alone
Great little find in Greenwich! They had a great selection and lots of different price points! Will definitely be back to expand my collection soon! Also their tote bags are cool and it’s now my favourite one to carry.
A classy record shop in South London. You have to love a bit of vinyl. Funny thing, I have records at home and a player, but I never play them. I'm old enough for my collection to have been bought when there were only tapes and records. MP3 came along, and I gave up cleaning the vinyl and replacing the needle. Records are a nostalgia thing, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Best record shop I've found in London so far having spent time in 4 or 5 in January as I've recently purchased a record player. This was such a well stocked proper music den with a brilliant playlist for excellent 60s & 70s atmosphere, Very pleased with my purchase and have my eyes on what I'd like in my next visit

49 Brixton Station Road
Luv this place, way more therapeutic than Phonica on a sunny day haha! The record holder made out of copper pipe - so witty. Staff who recommended me places to go & eat was nice & helpful.
I come in here every time I’m on the lookout for something fresh to listen to, the staff really know their stuff when it comes to music and are always super friendly and helpful, finally got my hands on an Arthur Russell vinyl thanks to them! Very varied selection of genres too...proper grand et def get the thumbs up from me, nice!
Container Records has been one of the best vinyl shopping experiences I've had since I started listening to records...staff are super friendly and their knowledge of music stretches far and wide - from up n coming artists to uncelebrated gems from the past, they've got it covered. Definitely my go to for anything music related. Really looking forward to the next instore event...thanks guys!
This is a great place! Good selection of New vinyl and some second hand gems too. It's my favourite place to get music.
Great shop with a strong selection of old and new music and a great rotating 'Staff Pick' selection! Also has regular drops of genre-organised second hand stuff so best to get updates from facebook!

324D Hackney Road, London, E2 7AX
Great shop. Has some of the usual rare groove records lined on the wall. Prices are current “market” prices. Found one wishlist item in the bins, at an acceptable price. Multiple listening stations. And multiple cheapo bins.
Cool shop for sure! I was immediately approached by the person working telling me to feel free to listen to anything I want. I spent about an hour digging and found a lot of stuff that I wanted. Due to the fact that I was traveling I really couldn't purchase too much. I left with an LP and a 45. 👍🏻 Really great vibe, selection and location. thank y'all!!
Even for London this is a fantastic shop- beautifully curated, filled with gems for you to discover and a super passionate owner who clearly takes delight in you listening to and enjoying his recommendations. I’m a bit broke at the moment, but I’ll be back to clean up in the near future!
If you want to listen to the song by choosing the lp, let me hear it and explain about this song. The female staff is kind. I and my brother made a purchase. I felt the joy of traveling here. I visited twice
Amazing shop in London for international vinyl, great Latin, caribbean and African selection. Tons of originals and rare grails!

264 Hackney Rd, London E2 7SJ, UK
Crypt Of The Wizard is an incredible spot for anyone who loves immersive, atmospheric experiences. The attention to detail and the unique, mysterious vibe make it feel like stepping into another world. Every corner is full of surprises, and the staff are knowledgeable and welcoming. Whether you’re exploring for the first time or returning, it’s an unforgettable experience that’s well worth the visit. Highly recommended for fans of fantasy and adventure alike
Excellent record shop for metalheads. Lot of underground, second hand and used Lp's. Vast choice of cassettes as well. There's black metal, death, grind and some ambient/dungeon synth. Perfect.
A heaven for the metalheads of London! You can find it everything that connected to metal, from disks to vinyls, in a very unique atmosphere. The vast of the genres is very broad, and the staff is incredibly nice. A visit is more than recommended if you're a metalhead
one of the best record stores i’ve ever been to! must visit in London! friendly staff, big variety of metal records. keep it underground 🤘🏼
I had a really great experience here while I was on vacation in London. I was looking for a few specific records. They didn't have them and that's all good. I found an LP i've been wanting for quite some time and cannot get in the States so that was awesome! The guy working that day was very nice and we made small talk. He made some recommendations and I saved them for further listening. Great shop - thanks y'all !

London
Ave! Great hidden place inside a market. Very friendly owner! Although I am on the hunt for metal, 'Hard Rock' section didn't dissapoint! You can find hidden metal gems inside there! 😉🤘
A great record shop me and my son come to dr vinyl all the time and the sweets are the best they sell great albums they have the beatles they have elvis and black sabbath/ozzyosborune and queen you name it they got it what not to love about dr vinyl💯
Absolutely wonderful record shop. Full of tons of good stuff and at really good prices. If they don't have what you are looking for chances are they can find it for you. Darren and Ali are lovely to speak to and so knowledgeable. They will also make sure you are happy with your purchase. Also as a bonus there is a shop cat which is very friendly!
The owner of this shop is an absolute legend. My son recently got into vinyl; Dr Vinyl opened up a place in my home town and has been really kind to him and his friends. We asked if he did gift cards for my sons birthday and he gave us this absolutely fantastic voucher made with an old record. My son was made up! What a star!
Had a look for the first time last week, bought two LPs which were in perfect condition. Highly recommend

20 Eastcheap, London EC3M 1DT, UK
The cocktails were perfect, the pizza crispy, delicious and juicy… The waiter welcomed us so warmly and kindly that we immediately felt at home. Definitely our favourite place in London! The atmosphere is amazing, and if I could, I would give it a 10/10. Greetings from Croatia — we hope to see you again!
Had such a great time at Eastcheap Records! The cocktails were delicious, and the prawn starter and pulled pork slider were both really tasty. The pizza was fresh, cheesy, and full of flavour. The highlight, though, was the live music amazing atmosphere, great performers, and such good vibes all around. The staff were super friendly, and the place had an energy that makes you want to stay all night. Can’t wait to go back!
Had such a great evening at Eastcheap Records! 🎶 The live music was incredible — talented performers, warm atmosphere, and perfect sound. The place feels cozy yet full of energy, with great lighting and stylish interiors. We also enjoyed delicious pizza and drinks — everything complemented the music perfectly. A spot I’d happily come back to for another night of live tunes and good vibes 💫
Absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was so chill and welcoming, with great music playing the whole time. The musicians were super talented and really made the experience special. It’s one of those spots where you just instantly feel good being there. If you’re into good vibes and live music, definitely worth checking out!
What a great bar! Fantastic atmosphere, even on a Monday! Really great food, the pizzas are so good! Amazing cocktails, so tasty but also strong, lovely! Great, quick & friendly service. Also really great live music while we were there, the guy had such a great voice. We had such a good time, would recommend 100%
Pizza, cocktails & wines presented in a vibrant, industrial-chic venue with live music & DJ sets.

8 Bradbury St, London N16 8JN, United Kingdom
As previous comments said, a bit of a shabby looking place but has a varied offering (reggae, soul, jazz, funk, loads of 7”. Not the cleanest sleeves/records but found multiple harder to find cheap heat. Prices are decent. And the owner is very friendly and will help you find the bin you’re looking for. Best store I visited that day.
Somewhat cluttered and seemingly shambolic interior concedes little to design or layout but goes large on atmosphere. Specialising in blues, soul, reggae, ska, jazz, funk, rap, hip-hop, Afro-beat, and their kith ‘n kin with a smattering of other recognised popular genres. Stock second-hand with quality varying from the (visually) mediocre to very good. Reasonable depth but with a fairly high instance of dross - but priced accordingly. Tapes, books, ancillaries and bits ‘n bobs add to the clutter and unique flavour. You’re bound to find something here and unlikely to leave empty-handed.
Good selection of music, including reggae, afrobeat, jazz, funk, soul and more. A bit cluttered but worth it as new stock added fairly regularly. Can be a bit hit or miss with opening times but they clearly have passion for old vinyl. Downsides are it's hipster country, so don't expect many bargains, you can play your picks on the shop turntables but none have treble controls, so don't expect to hear the scratches until you get them home. And on the hipster tip, beware some of the goons who rock up to chat with the guy behind the counter, so bad you'll either leave the shop or burst out laughing. There are better second hand vinyl shops, but these guys are trying
The best record store in London. Proper Old School. Run by good people.
A great dig. Prices are very reasonable. Covers are a bit shaggy, but all vinyl I checked out was quite good. Just a great place for jazz, soul, funk, etc. Anywhere with a CTI section get a 5 from me!

50 Essex Rd, London N1 8LR, UK
I picked up 3 amazing vinyls and they all sound beautiful. I will be coming back for more. customer service was pretty decent and friendly
One for the heads who still dig deep and get lucky! This place has come through for me more than once. It’s not over hyped or flashy, just a real shop with crates that reward time and patience. The basement’s where it’s all at, crates of second hand 12’s, dusty jungle/DnB bits, UKG, hip hop and soul which are all in rotation. About 10/15 years ago, I found a clean copy of Lewis Parker’s ‘It’s All Happening Now’ here, one of those records I’d been chasing for some years and I’d thought it was long gone. That moment’s stuck with me ever since! The staff know their stuff, but don’t hover. You’re left to do your thing. It’s a digger’s shop, through and through, for people who want to find records, not be sold them. If you’re into the same genres I am, Hip Hop, UK house & garage, jungle/DnB and broken beat/bassline etc, then Flashback Islington is always well worth checkin out. It’s not always loud about it, but the good stuff’s in there if you know how to look. Big up the team for keeping the secondhand scene alive. Still one of the best spots north of the river and honestly, a contender for top 5 across all of London.
I got back into buying vinyl around 10 years ago. When I started dating my current girlfriend 8 years ago, she mentioned that there was a record shop in Islington. I myself don’t live in London but I now look forward to checking out Flashback whenever I visit. I honestly buy something every time, whether it be vinyl or CD and usually have to limit myself to a certain amount! It’s very reasonably priced and has a great mix of genres. I’ve picked up several US Paisley Underground inspired LPs for £6 or under. Cannot recommend these guys enough!
All the Flashback stores are great shops for buying used records. They are detailed and precise in their descriptions, and the gradings fair. I particularly enjoy the downstairs part of the Islington shop where a couple of turntables are there for listening. The team are really friendly. I walked away with a bunch of great buys!
Great record shop with loads of vinyl and CD's and not overpriced like some of the other shops I visited in London. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Highly Recommended!!!

131 Bethnal Grn Rd, London E2 7DG, UK
Large choice in various styles. Prices are correct. Digging for an hour here and find some cool drum and bass records, large reggae choice too but we don't have sufficient time to stay. I'll be back later for sure. I really appreciate turntables to listen selection before buying. Thank you Flashback!
I recently experienced what I can only describe as racial abuse from three white members of staff at Flashback Records that left me deeply unsettled and I will never return to this store. As a long-time customer, I am shocked at this treatment, especially in a predominately brown area of East London. ——- I visited the store after calling to ask about their vinyl buying policy. I was told they offer 60% in-store credit on bought vinyl and was given no more information. However, when I arrived, an american male clerk said I had to show him ID and a bank statement with proof of address. I complied, providing both a bank statement with my clear address and full name, as well as a passport photo. Despite this, the clerk insisted twice that the names didn't match, which was clearly false. He finally agreed after I showed him the documents for a third time that the names did in fact match and offered no apology. The clerk seemed to target my attire and question my identity in a manner that was both offensive and unprofessional. When I expressed discomfort, he became defensive. An older European woman behind the counter then started yelling (paraphrasing) , "It’s the LAW, it’s the LAW...if you don’t want to show us your passport, you don’t have to shop here. We don’t usually agree to non-physical ID..." I tried to explain that I didn't have an issue with showing my ID if that was their store policy, but I did have an issue with the way I was interrogated- but the staff continued to dismiss my concerns and even suggested I leave the store. The situation escalated later after they checked the vinyl I brought to them and gave me a credit voucher and I came to use it, partly because I wanted to use the voucher immediately and never come back to the store. A younger white male clerk, who hadn't been present for the initial interaction, seemed keen to get involved and began laughing at me. He claimed there was never any racism and that they served people of color all the time without complaint. Being laughed at while trying to explain my experience was particularly difficult and showed the staff's lack of awareness of their unconscious biases. I wanted to leave but couldn’t because they had my records and store voucher, and my repeated requests to get one of these back were ignored so that the younger man in particular could get involved and laugh at me. Thankfully, the owner eventually arrived and intervened and I was able to complete the transaction, but the damage had already been done. The older woman even lied to the owner about the situation, saying that I didn’t want to show my ID, further showing the staff's unwillingness to take responsibility for their actions. I urge Flashback Records management to take this incident seriously and review their staff training . It is crucial that all employees are educated on the importance of treating every customer with respect and dignity, regardless of their background. I did not want to leave this review and would have preferred to deal with the situation on the spot but the staff’s failure to have a civil conversation (let alone take accountability for their offensive behavior) left me no choice.
Flashback have 3 stores in the London area, I have visited all of them numerous times and have never left empty-handed 😀. They have something for every collectors music tastes. Primarily specialising in vinyl, they do however have a good selection on cd's, books and cassettes as well...worth the trip !
Large selection of UK & Irish artists. Great welcome.
Great shop for mostly used records. Wide range, some unusual ones such as Japanese Ambient. Lots of punk,Prog,Techno,Reggae,Hip Hop. Collectors records.well worth going.

26 Tottenham Lane, London, N8 8PT
Solid North London spot for second hand finds. Flashback Crouch End has been a consistent dig for years. No frills, but a reliable shop with a rotating selection and the occasional gem if you’re patient. The hip hop section isn’t huge, but it turns over. I’ve picked up some good UK pressings here unexpectedly and the same goes for jungle, DnB and garage 12's. They’ve got a deck on site too, which is appreciated. You can actually listen before you buy, which fewer shops offer these days. Not the loudest or flashiest shop around, but if you’re into proper digging, it’s certainly a good one to keep on your North London radar.
Traded in a record and picked up another that I really wanted there and then! Very straight forward and friendly staff. Records have details of pressing etc at the front which found to be very helpful.
This is a lovely store, with the records very well labelled including the year and other details to help distinguish the pressing. I went in today, and snapped up a couple of great records from the 80s. Service from the team there was really great too - very friendly and happy to answer questions.
First time at a record store and clearly this was the one to be at seeing as it was so busy. A mix of regulars and general public. There is a record player for you to listen to the music and the staff were helpful in showing us how it all worked.
This shop is one of the best choices for music fans and happily I was able to buy one of Amy Winheouse's albums - Frank. They have also plenty of books, t-shirts, posters, mugs and the staff is really kind.
Current releases and classic secondhand vinyl discs covering most musical genres in a cool shop.

1 Earlham St, London WC2H 9LL, UK
When I was coming back from dinner, I stumbled into this record shop. And the second I took foot into the store, I was mesmerized and happy and overwhelmed at the same time. Because first I saw the book collection and I was like, oh my god, there are so many incredible fiction books. And the books about music upstairs also were phenomenal. And when I saw the deals that you would get three vinyls for just £66, I was in shock. Because I found so many incredible music. And when I went upstairs, there is even a bigger vinyl collection. And I was in heaven. This is absolutely a spot where you should go after dinner just to browse before you head back home into your hotel. And read a book about music like the one I bought, Nothing is Real, The Beatles Were Underrated, and other sweeping statements about pop by David Hepworth. 🤩🤩🤩
FOPP is one badass and foppulous records store. Amazing finds and good prices. Their staff are highly knowledgeable and friendly (culturally relative). I’ve been to London twice in the past couple of months, and I’ve been to FOPP twice as well, where I spent a few hundred pounds on some great vinyls. Can’t wait to visit London next month to stop by again.
The tall guy at tills downstairs was very rude, I don’t speak english very well and he constantly asked for something after we payed. I tried to made him explain a little slower what he was saying but he kept repeating the same phrase five times (sometimes about “messages”, I don’t know). I spend more than £50 but after that interaction I don’t think I will come back. The have a great selection of movies and tv series.
Huge selection of dvds 📀 ( although finding buy them ) which can be nice to browse, also a smaller selection of books and good selection of vinyls and other bits. Staff seemed friendly and there were a few decent offers going on when I was there. Easily located and in general a nice place to pop into. Music choices not great
Everything you expect from a record store and more. The variety is wild, whatever you need, they have it whether it is a vinyl, CD, DVD or even books. Loved it!
Store offering leftfield books & CDs alongside arthouse & world cinema DVD releases.

A very vibey 2nd floor brunch and coffee house tucked away in Dalston, with a cool vinyl shop integrated inside. The staff has always been very friendly, prices are super reasonable and they’re very pet friendly!
Super friendly staff (especially Alex) impeccable music selection, highly recommend
The best record store in town, Fra e Ale are amazing!
The best fish finger sandwich I’ve ever had. Chilled, professional creative vibe whilst sitting on a comfy sofa listening to Jazz. Can’t get much better than that!
Really cool record shop in an interesting location. Always go away with some interesting finds and a longer list of things I want to check out. Often have someone DJing there too which is nice

London
Great selection of records! Love the tunes they play as well, varied and eclectic. Some of my favorite artists also have pop ups there from time to time, awesome!
The Music stalwart’s micro store packs a potent punch for a pint-size. An eclectic and astute inventory may be VERY limited but studiously avoids belabouring the obvious, predictable and the ho-hum. Here, likely find the unexpected, recherché and perhaps unfamiliar. Staff are approachable, sussed and pleasant. Also a concise selection of CD’s and a noteworthy sweep of books. Prices reasonable.
Why not! Bought myself a Tshirt, Don Cherry album and a Pharoah Sanders album.
Great little store. Excellent collection of Jazz with some decent pressings.
Fantastic record shop with a great selection of hidden gems and expert recommendations. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, always ready to help you discover new favorites. A must-visit for any vinyl lover!

278 Portobello Road, London, W10 5TE
Easily my favourite record shop in London. Best selection of world and jazz music ive come across. The staff are knowledgeable and give great advice if you're trying to expand your taste. So friendly and easy to talk to.
Absolutely amazing record store! This place may be small, but it’s packed with an incredible selection of vinyl treasures. Every visit feels like a musical adventure! The owner is not only super knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly and passionate about music. Whether you’re hunting for classics or hidden gems, this is the perfect spot. A true paradise for vinyl lovers – highly recommended!
Terrific record store. Vast collection of Fela Kuti vinyl, managed to buy a copy of ITT there at a good price. Highly recommended for anyone into world music.
Portobello’s cornerstone for global sound and serious selectors… Honest Jon’s isn’t just a record shop, it’s a cultural institution. Sitting proudly at the Ladbroke Grove end of Portobello Road since the 1970’s, this place has always stood for depth, quality and curation over hype. From dub and jazz to rare soul, highlife, ambient and experimental electronics, their racks reflect decades of crate digging wisdom. If you’re into sound system culture, or forward thinking club sounds, you’ll find something here that moves you. It’s not just about the records either. The shop has its own label, Honest Jon’s Records, responsible for some truly legendary reissues and boundary pushing releases. This place has always had one foot in the past and one in the future, with a radar tuned to what actually matters. The vibe’s low key but sharp. No ego, no pretense. Just heads who love music and know what they’re doing. It’s a spot for serious listeners, but also welcoming if you’re just starting your vinyl journey. You’ll walk out with something you didn’t expect and it’ll probably stay in your rotation for life. In a West London scene that’s seen many great shops disappear, Honest Jon’s remains standing tall, alongside Music & Video Exchange and Rough Trade West, forming a holy trinity for anyone serious about records and the culture. Long live Honest Jon’s. Still honest and still essential!
I've been buying mail order to New Zealand from Honest Jons for decades. visited shop most weekends for a couple of years. incredible shop, knowledgeable staff, great variety of music.
Old-school record store stocks eclectic blues, dance, soul, reggae and global music on vinyl and CD.

22 Chatsworth Road, London
Jelly records is by far my favourite record store in the UK. The staff are super friendly and passionate about music. The selection is excellent and well organised. Their sound system is pristine. I’ve returned and will return with friends often.
Best selection of vinyls in London at fair price. Good stock in best condition well presented and well labelled to make finding stock easy. Jelly Records is run by Kevyn who is friendly and helpful. His knowledge of music is the best. His shop has great vibe and location.
This has become my new favourite record shop in the area. Can spend hours and some serious £££ here! Well balanced selection of genres. Lots of white label grime, dubstep, techno, ukg gems to sift through. Fair pricing and super organized. Plenty of listening stations which I love. Staff are always a joy to talk to. I can’t recommend this place enough!!
Great place to explore music. The staff there were so chilled and friendly. I’ll be making a trip back for sure.
Didn’t buy anything but good shop with a broad selection of second hand and some new/reissues. Friendly relaxed owner. Will return.

Lower Marsh, London SE1 7RG, UK
We went to Johnny Skates Records, because my dad is a vinyl collector and we were more than pleasently surprised. Mr. Skates has quite a wide selection of genres and the prices are more than fair. He really is a lovely gentleman and we had a good chat! Thank you very much Mr. Skates, for this amazing experience. We will, for sure, come back on our next city break. Greetings from Austria. 😄
I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase of “Romantic Moog” compilation album for the low low price of 33.333p. Doctor Zhivago never sounded this good. Except maybe that ice cream van from 1996.
Excellent selection. Wish I'd had more time to browse. Still managed to buy two great vinyls from the 80's at a decent price.
My wife and I luckily stumbled upon this small shop on our way to graffiti tunnel. The owner was so kind and talked with us for a bit and made us feel very welcome. The collection he has is very eclectic and has something for everyone. What a gem!
I ran into this place during my trip to London. It's open from pretty early (maybe before 10am?), so is a great place to spend time when you woke up too early with jetlag. The owner is really nice. He let me play the vinyls with speakers, and he was ready to recommend me on my second visit. I got a dancehall, some new wave and techno records for affordable price. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

502 Kingsland Road, London, E8 4AE
Great shop, great sales assistant, very friendly, very knowledgeable... I bought Psychotropic/Hypnosis second-hand there... I'll definitely be going back to Hackney next time...
Amazing stock, choice-of-styles and great prices. Super-friendly staff. I hope to come back soon. Scored an Africa Negra album which is really difficult-to-find!
A very welcoming and well-stocked shop. Have visited several times and will do in the future. Thanks!
Hello I'm a Hispanic man from Ecuador that lives in NY. I work as a Dental Hygienist. I blast out your Kingsland Records in my office . My patient love the vibes of it. Please don't stop doing this. Because this planet needs to heal. And Reggae is a music set from God itself to elevate the vibration of this beautiful plane. Much love and best vibes from a Reggae fan in the other side of the world 🌎.....
Contrary to what may seem from the outside, the shop has an extensive collection of reggae, jazz and afro records. You are treated as a friend, not as a customer. Buy local and support. respect!!

194 Well Street, London, E9 6QT
Only had coffee here very good playlist.
There are many great places to go record shopping in London, but unfortunately this is not one of them. No enthusiasm whatsoever from the owner, who seemed to be more focused on running his hipster clothing boutique than anything else. After looking around for some time and failing to find anything that seriously interested me, I left and the owner insulted me to my face for not purchasing anything. Anyone who collects records knows how much space they take up, which emphasizes the importance of only buying records you are truly excited about. If this guy wanted a donation he should have just asked 🤣 Hopefully he can improve his attitude and one day he might have a shot at running a decent shop.
Great selection of records plus amazing coffee in a perfect location. My new go to for my weekend coffee!
Great shop. Always got the goods, and the coffee... Phwoar.
Good record shop. Also has amall but solid selection of beers. The range includes some London stuff, with a particular emphasis on Inkspot during my visit, along with other stalwarts like Cloudwater. Decent prices. Nice record selection, too, with a heavy range of electronic and related genres. Some coffee and chocolate on offer as well. Worth popping in if you're on Well Street, but not a destination for beer on its own.
Dealer in new and used, mainstream, rare and esoteric vinyl records covering most musical genres.

121 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 8PB
David, the owner of The Little Record Shop, came to view our vinyl record collection and we couldn’t have had a better experience. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly throughout. We were very surprised and impressed that he came to our home the very next day after our telephone enquiry — especially considering he travelled all the way from North London to Croydon. David showed a genuine interest in our reggae vinyl collection in particular and was clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about the genre and its origins. He took the time to carefully look through everything, explained the process clearly, and offered us a fair and honest price. There was absolutely no pressure, just straightforward, trustworthy service from start to finish. We would highly recommend David and The Little Record Shop to anyone looking to sell or value vinyl records. A real pleasure to deal with!
David traveled to me to have a look at a record collection, offered a great price, and helped find some music a new home. Absolutely fantastic and professional guy, who should be your first and only choice when it comes to buying and selling vinyl in London. Highly recommended!
David visited me this morning to have a look at part of my vinyl collection I was looking to sell. What an outstanding experience - a really interesting, knowledgeable guy who gave me a very realistic price we were both happy with. He also made everything so relaxed and fun. Could’ve talked for hours. Couldn’t recommend highly enough - an A+++ experience. Special stuff.
I have been to the Little Record Shop before as I live locally and its a treasure trove of second hand records. However, I reached out to David (the owner) after a family member asked me to try and find a home for their unwanted record collection. David responded and visited my flat within 24 hours. David is very friendly, knowledgable and fair - he offered a very generous price for the records that he bought from the collection (not all were suitable). I would highly recommend David if you have records that you're looking to pass on/sell - he travels around the UK purchasing records and its great to see the records go to someone who is a passionate and cares about his work.
I decided that the time had come to sell my vinyl records and contacted David to see if he would be interested. He got back to me straight away, arranged to come and assess the collection a few days later, offered me a very fair price, paid on the spot and took the records away with him. He could not have been more friendly and straightforward, and I would certainly recommend him to anybody with records to sell.

118 Lower Clapton Road, London, E5 0QR
Best record shop/cafe in the Clapton area. Always great to have a chat with people working there! Make sure to go when the gigs are happening, there is a lovely small stage with a really good sound system for such small venue!
Get ready to feel (old s)kool, this place is a jam. We came in with laptops, grabbed sweet coffee and worked for some time, all while listening to David Bowie’s LP!
Visited a few times on a morning recently. I keep coming back because their coffee is so good! The fact this place is a record shop also adds to its lure for me. There's often great music playing (Vinyl of course), this coupled with great coffee makes it a great place to work for a half hour or so.
Sat down for a lovely coffee, heated, music is played with passion and after asking, I was given plenty of history and context for the records that were spun. Thoroughly recommend if you enjoy cozy record stores.
Great selection of records across many genres, wonderful staff, they make a good flat white! Make sure to check out their weekly gigs.

5 Pearson Street, London, E2 8JD
Love this shop. Great selection of soulful music with a wide variety of genres. Be sure to ask for recommendations & check Zaf’s productions as well, killer!!
Sick record shop! One of the best in East London. Great selection of new and second hand tunes available. Run by two really nice dudes. Generally fair prices and good atmosphere.
A valid and credible show of both new and second-hand vinyl concentrating on mostly dance music and associated contemporary permutations, sub genres and their kissing cousins with wide variations in quality and inventory depth. A cursory and token stock of the traditional 'old school' genres here. Enthusiastic traders here and the prices be within the bounds of common sense.
Great spot for pre-loved vinyl, specialized on reggae-soul-funk-disco-hip hop-latin. Well-curated 7” selection.
One of the few places I know that allow you to sample vinyls with their own records for free. Great vibes and nice staff equally
Cozy shop stocking a wide collection of new & used vinyl records, from African rhythms to techno.

43 Middle Yard, Camden Lock Place, London, NW1 8AF

23 Greenwich Church Street, London, SE10 9BJ
I never got into records, I only collect CDs and cassettes, so finding somewhere like this with just as mant CDs and records is always fantastic. Huge selection, all well priced. There wasn't much extreme metal the time I went, so I ended up taking some chances on some cheapo experimental CDs. The chap on the till was kind enough to show me a few things he thought I'd like there had just come in and weren't in the shelf yet too, so I walked out with a Sunn 0))) album I otherwise wouldn't have, what a legend! Highly recommend if you're a music nerd and wanna find something interesting.
Records are fashionable and cool, I suppose. I grew up when they were just away to listen to music. I found the maintenance of vinyl a pain, so when Mps3 and streaming came about, I was relieved to be done with needles and turn tables. This shop is stuffed to the gills with records. If its your thing, then you will love browsing through their collections. The price is a little bit rich for my blood for second-hand goods, but if your new wave cool into retro, then it's going to be your bag.
I'm a record collector from Germany who hasn't been to London for 25 years. So coming back meant that I had to visit as many stores as time (and my daughter) allowed. To cut it short: "Music & Video Exchange" is my no 1. I only collect Prog Rock (all eras) and M & V Exchange had some nice records on the shelves. Very nice owners as well. If you get to London (Greenwich) take your time for a visit.
Can't comment on the vinyl but good luck trying to find a cd the racks are a shambles and having a long haired bloke rearranging them and asking you to move out of the way doesn't help! I just gave up.
Music & Video Exchange, both shops, are probably THE places to go if you’re looking for cassette tapes. This shop has a 50p section, as well as some nice classics in the basment, moderately priced. Don’t miss out on it!
Secondhand music shop with CDs, tapes and videos, plus collectible vinyl and a bargain basement.

38 Notting Hill Gate, London, W11 3HX
This record store is a treasure trove for music lovers, offering both new releases and a great selection of second-hand vinyl. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making it easy to find hidden gems or classic favorites. A must-visit spot for collectors and casual listeners alike!
I recently visited Music & Video Exchange, and I was thoroughly impressed! The store has an excellent selection of vinyl records across various genres, from classic rock to modern releases. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to offer recommendations. The atmosphere of the store is cozy and welcoming, making it a pleasure to browse through the collection. Prices are fair, and they also have some rare and hard-to-find records, which is a real treat for collectors. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
Used to be an empire and it’s sad to see how reduced and condensed it now is, sign of the times. And the staff are friendlier than they used to be. A must go to place if you’re a music collector. There will be something here you want or need guaranteed. And it’s not a museum so you need to pounce on it when you see it. Prices get reduced weekly and fresh stock daily. All pre-loved. All alphabetised and genre specific. CDs downstairs and dvds with some 7”s. Vinyl upstairs. Always check the cabinets too.
Definitely a decent selection of music with some half good prices, however there are some issues, there's always some homeless man wondering around stinking a urine, which makes digging an awful experience to be completely honest, the people that work there have this kind of attitude that stinks, almost like they're more superior than the customers that are spending money there, and the stickers that they put on the CDs and vinyls are so adhesive that they always leave marks which is such a shame because collectors don't like having sticker marks all over their vinyls or CD cases. Other than that it's an okay shop, slim pickings in that area so you get what you're given.
It feels like they have pretty much everything. However, it may be difficult to search if you are looking for something specific and less popular.
Music store buying and selling vinyl records, CDs and DVDs, with comic books and retro clothing.

304 Uxbridge Road
Anna is simply awesome! She is so helpful and even when busy, keeps it together! The focaccias are delish, cheeky afternoon cocktails on point and the morning coffees much appreciated! The store is amazing and the young owners deserve all the success. Go visit as soon as you can 💖
Really disappointing time, local bar that I would love to support, selection was limited but would not have been an issue if the atmosphere was nice. Sadly it was not. Drinks were quite expensive, other customers seemed confrontational. A member of staff curtly asked us to leave to make way for a reserved table 15 minutes before the time on the reservation even though we were clearly about to finish off drinks, when pointed out there was 15 minutes till that time they walked off without a word. Felt unwanted while there and overall didn't feel friendly or nice. Would recommend almost any of the other pubs on the same road.
Really quirky and fun place to go, coffee shop during the daytime with lots of spaces to work. And a bar during the night, with live music! Nice decor with some retro vibes. The girl serving us was very friendly and brought some good energy to the place. Will be back to work remotely again!
What a great place! A record shop, a bar, a pizza restaurant and a music venue! All working seamlessly together to create an amazing place to hangout, shop, listen to music, easy and drink... Yeah, absolutely recommended.
This morning’s coffee was just what I needed. Thank you Anna. Loved the vibe of this place so much. Great soul tunes playing which was what I needed. Face timed my son and husband in Australia to show them how cool this place was. So welcoming and accommodating. Loved the tshirts and taking one home to our music loving family. Went back for a cheeky margarita and focaccia lunch. Highly recommend for music & coffee lovers !🧡

182 Stoke Newington Road, London, N16 7UY
Record shop, bar and music venue that is easy to get to in the heart of Stoke Newington that also has a food offering. The bar is on the ground floor together with the records and has plenty of seating plus a toilet. Draught beers are limited but a reasonable mix plus they sell wine by the pint! The music venue is downstairs which basically precludes disabled access. The venue is quite small but has both good sound and lightning. There is a bar and loos too. I have knocked one star off as the upstairs loo was out of order and the downstairs really was not that good. Overall a nice venue and bar and all the staff were very pleasant
The great quality sounding music is a given! We also had an excellent experience there: Two of the staff members helped me to surprise my gf with a birthday cake. They helped me hide/store it, and on my queue they brought it out with candles lit and all! Thank you David and Abbey
Nice find this. A couple of nice, tasty beers on tap and some really friendly and attentive staff. Staff make a place like this (or break it) I think. Really well set out records to browse through, ranges of seating. Went to the gig space downstairs - the lighting and sound were really exceptional I thought. But there is a negative - that's the smallest men's toilet I've ever been in I think!! But all really 5 stars apart from that minor quibble...
Wonderful atmosphere! Tasty coffee and really great stickers collection ! Ehm I mean vinyls too 😅 Back soon for for more coffee and the live events!
The decor is nice, and staff seem friendly enough. However they didn’t have a few drinks we wanted in stock and the music on a Saturday was extremely loud, to the point where we had to leave much sooner than anticipated because it felt deafening. We also trying move spots away from the speakers to the big bench and despite being sat next to each other, we couldn’t hear without shouting really loudly at each other. When we eventually decided to leave another group next to us complained about the loudness too, with one joking with me about how much he’s having to shout. Really hope management can be mindful about the volume on record spinning nights upstairs— the volume being that high when there’s no dance floor, making people want to talk, doesn’t quite work. Maybe if some of the more very abandoned chairs and tables were put to the side to create dance space and the volume was lowered it would have been more enjoyable.

181 Holloway Rd, London N7 8LX, UK
The place is new, but it doesn’t feel eager. There’s a quiet confidence here — low lighting, conversations that don’t compete with the music, and a sense that you’re allowed to linger without being rushed. It’s a bar where the soundtrack matters as much as the drink, and where Sunday night doesn’t mean winding down, just tuning in. Can’t wait to join on a Friday or Saturday, when the DJ takes the room a little further. If it keeps this balance, One Eighty One won’t stay a secret for long.
Best bar in Islington . Quality music , great vibes and lovely staff
Lovely bar with a great atmosphere. Relaxed vibe and not pretentious at all. Excellent cocktails, good music and really friendly staff. It’s one of those places you want to recommend to everyone… but also secretly hope stays a hidden gem 😊
Stunning little spot. Great ambiance and music playing. Great addition to Holloway Road. More of these pls
Love this place. A relatively small but expertly curated selection of records, all priced fairly. Plus you can get a beer or coffee while you browse. Great Soundsystem in there so looking forward to checking out a night when I get a chance.

10 Inverness Road, London
Was disappointed by the offering when I visited. Really mid to low-range releases. Nothing too fancy. Decent old school shop though, with OK pricing, and the shopkeeper today was very friendly and had a couple of mad jazz tunes playing. Vinyl heads should take into account the shop is filled for 75% with “Oh they have a Pearl Jam record” tourists.
Record shop number three of my series, Out On The Floor Records just across the road from Camden Town underground station on Inverness Street NW1 you will find this amazing shop packed with reggae treasures. I had a quick chat with Jake Travis the owner of Out On The Floor Records, It’s one of the few specialist record shops that sell an amazing collection of classic Reggae records in vinyl, its a chance to discover music that filled the dancehalls over the years and were never pop hits but well loved by Caribbean's who had their own underground world filled with amazing music, from Jhon Holt to Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Toots and the Maytals etc. The shop is a treasure trove and if you love browsing its worth a visit. This shop also houses Tuff Scout Record Label downstairs. I looked through the stock and saw some classics from way back if you love reggae its a must visit. They have been at that location for over 31 years so we can say they are kinda established. Take a quick look and like me, support the independents we cant afford to loose these types of shops.
So happy I went to this shop where I found gems I was hoping to get that I wouldn’t find elsewhere! Genres are well organized. All the physical vinyls are stored behind the back desk and placed in the sleeve once you buy the record. So the vinyls I got were in excellent condition! Appreciated the man who helped me (or it may have been the owner) and had a lovely chat about record shops in my city appreciating that the business is alive!
Ave! Great place! Not only Heave Metal on display but Black Metal as well! 😈 Black Metal easily overshadowing it's brother on the right with twice of amount and content on display!!! 😛🤘 For me that would be even 6 stars!!! 😉
Best place in Camden for vinyl. Jake is a very nice person to talk with an he can help you with good advice.

36 Market Row, London SW9 8LD, UK
Alan running the store is great and super helpful. you can get lost for hours there with all the amazing underground music! Make sure you don’t have a train to catch
Just mind blowing selection, everyone was super friendly, took me back to record shopping 20 years ago. Only downside was knowing I should have visited here a long time ago!! A great place to dig for old tunes as well as find brand new gems.
This place became one of my favorite spots to dig for music. It feels just like the good old days of House/Techno, with second-hand and new releases at fair prices. Thanks a lot to Allan for picking amazing music!
huge selection of house and techno and everything adjacent, prepare to dig! New and old stuff, loads of turntables for listening. Guys working there are sound too. Will be back!
The best electronic vinyl store for diggers in south london

81 Askew Road
It’s a spiritual experience visiting Pecking. I can’t convey what a pleasure it was to visit this historic spot. Chris and Duke are absolute gems. I left with incredible selections and a heart full of love and gratitude. Once you visit, you’ll know. Thanks fam.
Had a fine old time here. It's worth a visit for vinyl lovers
Good vibes, good music, good people Big ups from Nova Scotia!
Even though I haven't been to Peckings in 15 + years, I know Chris is still doing a top job and passionate about Ska/Rock Steady/Reggae music hence my overdue review. Looks like the shop has moved. Even though I only visited Peckings about a dozen times, he had the best selection of Studio One around and some rarities. A pity I don't live close by anymore. Awesome unique record shop, need to get back for a visit.
Chris and Duke keep up with the latest music, also the golden oldies which is delightful. Lovers Rock, Studio One etc. A pleasant to be around.

11 All Saints Road
Sounds harsh but best thing about this place is there's at 2 other decent shops nearby you can go to once you've left here empty handed. It's got a lot of potential and looks great from the outside, but it's like when you go buying in Jamaica where the shopfronts/people are cool but all the records are gone. Expect it over there but here it's not like London is short of distributors etc. Never even seen anyone behind the counter either. Have to say though ordering online/discogs and on phone the service has been really polite and professional
❤💛💚✌🏽
Woow, what an experience. This shop has so many old-time records. I need to bring my mum and her peeps over, give them a look around 💯
Cool shopfront, nice tunes playing inside, and a decent selection of vinyl. Had a nice chat with Troy, who works there and knows his stuff, helpful, friendly guy. My mate Glenroy, from my uni days, lived in Ladbroke Grove years ago, and used to regale me with stories about how great it was there, and how I would've loved it - very different now I think, but good to see shops lke this still doing their thing! Was chuffed to pick up a 7" copy of 'Ball of Fire'. 🙂
Great selection of tunes hides in here. Very cosy shop, huge collection of vinyls to choose from for a easy listener or a selecta looking for some fresh beats. Surely be back soon for more!

51 Poland St, London W1F 7ND, UK
Amazing vinyl record store in London. Phonica was part of my vinyl safari throughout the city and it was beyond my expectations. I've found some rare and great dance and electronic music records. The staff was very helpful and I wish I've stayed longer digging for more music and enjoyed the vibe of the people visiting the store. Will come back! Phonica Records is owned by The Vinyl Factory music company.
Cool shop, but staff extremely rude to people just coming in to get into music. Genuinely, would not recommend to come here especially if you’re just getting into vinyls. You’re better off somewhere else where it makes exploring music fun and relaxing.
Very good quality of music, lots of house music, techouse, deep, techno, I loved the store and buyed 10 records , the guy who attended was very friendly and 5+++++ i live in dublin but i will return soon 😊 you can listen your records before buy it , always good music playing.
Best Record shopping experience possible. We came back a second day to buy more records. The staff is truly great and Luther was such a sweetheart helping us discover new tunes and taking care of us both. Can’t say enough good things about this shop!
Good shop. Lots of listening stations and a nice selection of new and used electronic music. Cool they are supporting and featuring local smaller labels new releases too. Super kind lady at the desk too.
Independent specialist in vinyl records, offering the latest releases, pre-orders and merchandise.

318 New Cross Road, London, SE14 6AF
What more can any music lover want than a retro record store combined with a bar that has fantastic staff and amazing events in all dance music genres. All this in an intimate setting making the customer feel like part of the family. I almost don't want to leave this review so that this atmosphere stays as it is! However, I would be doing the place and injustice if I didn't say how fantastic it is and how much of a pleasure it is to visit all the way from Devon 💜🎧
This feels like a great community hub for DJs. There is a bar up front and decent number of bins that include new and used DJ typical genres. There is a DJ booth at the back of the store that almost always seems to be cooking. A great place to hang out.
Great vinyl store! Website is crafted with the love to the music, each plate has its small description covering some interesting facts about the artist or the release! Quick and polite communication via email. Big thanks to the owner Chris who helped me greatly with my order when I’ve messed up a bit! I will definitely return and make new orders! Big up! PS junglist massive!
Good place if you’re into buying second hand jungle or dnb, have a drink, enjoy the dj’s who are playing alongside like minded people 👌
So glad to see this place thriving. Record stores were on the way out, but Planet Wax is getting stronger and stronger. Great venue with an awesome bar. Check it out for label take overs and just to go crate digging too. See you soon!

Popped in to see what was in stock as my partners mum wants a record player. Was inspecting the counter balance of one of the arms and the owner shot over to give me a telling off for "damaging" it. I would have explained that my father had a turntable when I grew up and I own one myself now but couldn't get a word in over his patronising mansplaining. Seems it's a universal experience. Hope he gets the custom he deserves with that condescending attitude.
I went to the shop and I was checking one of the records that was there in a pile in the middle of the shop, when the owner shouted that I could't touch that record, as it was from his personal collection and it wasn't for sale... I'm a record collector and I've known plenty of quirky record shop owners, but this guy is beyond that. Someone that has zero skills to manage a shop or any customer oriented business.
Popped into the shop (felt more like a museum, but I digress) as I'm thinking of buying a turntable after a gap of several years. The owner of the shop (Daniel) restores and upgrades 'idler drive' turntables; very high end, very expensive. But, he had some cheaper belt drive and direct drive turntables, so I assumed he knew his stuff. My mistake. 1) I asked for his opinion on the merits of each type of system; the way he compared them was hugely biased towards idlers (the expensive ones he sells, natch) to the point of rubbishing the other two types of turntable, to the point of stating facts about them that were outright lies. He played a record on all three types of turntable but conveniently the only well set up system was for his expensive idler turntables while the other two were represented by systems that looked old, worn out and shoddy, therefore skewing any results. 2) His attitude. My god, Daniel is rude, arrogant, condescending, belittling. He acted like I knew nothing, even when I went into detail about my 'hi-fi history' and again, sounded like somebody pushing a narrative rather than wanting to help a prospective Customer make an informed decision. I see you Daniel. I have several thousands to spend on a system. You will not see a penny of it.
Having wanted to buy a turntable for a long time, my wife and I stumbled across this shop and learnt a lot from Daniel about how things used to be and how to achieve the best quality sounds. We decided to buy a 1970s turntable and amp and we're delighted with it. We had a couple of problems with it after a while and Daniel really went the extra mile to repair it and ensure we were happy. The aftercare service has really been exceptional. Very happy we bought from Daniel.
Went in today as I had been told they had a set of vintage speakers for sale I had been after for years. Sadly the elderly assistant working there with the straggly thinning hair, psoriasis and overbearing, boorish manner was so patronising and obnoxious towards my girlfriend and I that we left immediately and won't be returning. Incidentally, whilst they did indeed have the speakers I wanted in stock I have since discovered it will be cheaper to have a pair shipped over from Florida than the unrealistic price they had here. Stock: 5/10 ; Value: 2/10 ; Customer Service: 0/10.

Loved the Vibe was taken by a good friend and we met Claudia . She was knowledgeable and very social . Excellent supply of tunes new old and rare just ask.
Pure vinyl is so much more than a record shop, a real community hub, not only do they have a fantastic selection of jazz, reggae, soul and funk but also lots of rarities coming through. Their open deck evenings, charity auctions and in-store sessions always have a great vibe and are proper fixture for Brixton. Highly recommend!
We visited Pure Vinyl Records on the lookout for old reggae/ska/rocksteady and we weren't disappointed. We found some great records and the shop is run by lovely people who are happy to chat away about music and tell stories about the events they put on for the community. We'll be sure to take a trip to Brixton to PVR any time we're in London in the future. 👍🎶
Sorry again we didn’t buy anything Marky, thanks for chatting with us about music and life in London! Next time I’m in Brixton I’ll be sure to get something from your cool shop!
A fantastic place for vinyl and music lovers. Claudia is running the place with true heart and soul. A true gem in Brixton

24 Camden Road, London, NW1 9DP
This store is awesome from top to bottom. Nice and some rare records from heavy metal to extreme metal. And they Brew fresh delicious coffee, have a cozy crypt to listen good music and enjoy your coffee.
A metal lovers paradise. Where most record stores have a typically woeful selection of metal, this place has it all. From the most obscure, to mainstream, you’ll find it here. You never see Gwar anywhere. They even have the coffee too. The lady who served me was very pleasant also. Next time I’m in town I’ll definitely have a longer dig through the racks.
As an avid death metal fan I've been in many so called metal sections in record stores over the years and none can match the excellence of Raven records. Popped in when in london and not only do they stock extreme metal the atmosphere is brilliant. Lady that served me was lovely. So nice to talk and feel included. If you into metal of all genres their really is no where that i know of thats better. Will def be back when I have more time for a coffee and a chill.
Excellent coffee, excellent music, and super friendly and helpful staff. Great spot if you love vinyl, metal music, and coffee. Really cool lounge to hang out and sip on your coffee.
Medium sized record shop gor metalheads. Lot of records, mainly mainstream. Choices of coffee to drink and to buy.

107 Charing Cross Rd, London WC2H 0DT, UK
Great little find in the soho area. As a digger I’d normally hit, Sounds of the Universe, Reckless or Sister Ray, but this was a great find. Loads of great jazz varying massively in genre and era and all more than fair prices. I even found a rare funk album I’ve been after. Don’t expect a massive selection but for me this was definitely quality over quantity.
Very good but small jazz collection for vinyl
Mostly Jazz vinyls. High priced, compared to other record shops. There's a shelf od second hand as well, but it has mostly oldies, Frank Sinatra etc. The Jazz vinyls are only 2 shelves so not much to choose from. Nothing too rare. The records are on the 2nd store, with a lot of CD also available. Mainly a book store with Cafe at 5th store
This place is great for meeting in many ways -good range of hot drinks, reasonable sweet and savoury food, wifi-- and bad in others. It's usually pretty busy, and it is in Foyles which honestly, I find a bit dangerous. So many books! The prices aren't the cheapest, but the food is pretty hearty, and the location is very useful. If you go there towards the end of the evening, sandwiches are down to half-price.
Packed with people and abuzz with frenetic jazz that borders on anxiety inducing. You can only stay about an hour or two hunkered over books and beverages before being driven to distraction. Food and drinks on offer are average yet priced up.

30 Berwick Street, W1F 8RH
I enjoyed the small but very worthy and well priced section on classical music vinyls. You don't easily find a Julian Bream vinyl from the late 60s/early 70s in such a good condition.
Good vibes and rare boogie funk records at Reckless Records Soho. A great spot at Berwick St, London , also called "the vinyl mile" with so many options for crate digging and excellent music. I've found a couple of vinyl records I was long looking for. A happy place for me, indeed!
great little record shop! the collection is really diverse, and i found a few rare gems i’d been hunting for. it’s a bit busy at times, but the vibe is fun and welcoming. definitely worth popping in if you love vinyl.
Another treasure trove for music collectors in London. Pretty much where the whats the story morning glory oasis sleeve was taken from if you stand looking down torwards shaftesbury avenue with the shop on your left. Much like the other second hand music shops in london they reduce things weekly and a lot or collectibles and rarities come and go. Dont treat this place like a museum. If want it, grab it before it’s gone and you’ll regret it when you come back. They also sell cool tshirts as merch. Such a selection and genre specific. Cds, vinyl, cassettes galore. Look in the cabinets, look on the walls. I bet you’ll leave with at least one purchase. It can get busy, which is a great thing to see but also a pain to get in or out of the shop with a bottleneck of people looking in the racks or paying as you come in.
A decent vinyl recorded shop, not the best prices in town. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
Long-standing record store specialising in secondhand 7 and 12 inch vinyl, from rock to jazz.

70 Lee High Road
Great shop, like a TARDIS. Be prepared to spend several hours browsing the records but well worth it! Remember to take your wallet too 😉
The owner of this shop is probably one of the most iconic people in London. If you're ever there you'll be happy you met this beautiful man.
The owner , whom is a local celebrity has invested his life into this gem of a record shop, unknown to me they also sell comics. The only downside was I had to wait until I got home to listen to my records. Pure old school and utterly amazing timeless record shop
Never seen so many records in my life, there was also comics and many other wonders, I felt like a kid in a sweet shop! Proper nice very happy bloke who runs it, very helpful and will play a record for you before you buy if you want to listen to the sound quality. All the records are a really good price as well unlike the over priced hipster shops knocking about now days, I think I'm going to have to bring rations of food and water next time I go because I am going to be there a while.
Excellent shop.. Had lots of fun digging through countless records ! Found some great 12”singles for a great price.. also the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable..I would highly recommend this shop ! you would never get bored in there !! :)

341 Archway Rd, London N6 5AA, United Kingdom
Another terrific record shop! There's a really solid punk/metal section, a really big jazz section and plenty of African, soul and general rock and pop too. It has a lot of singles and the people are lovely. The lady that served me explained the Pink Floyd connection to the pub over the road too, which is precisely the sort of stuff I want to chat about with other music lovers. Top notch place and they recommend Alan's Records up the road in Finchley which was a great call.
I m a serious record collector for the last 30 years and visited hundreds of record stores all around the world. That has been by far one of the best record store I have ever been having on the wall and in the crates many grails. Seems like Discogs in a shop. Ended up buying few great and hard to find albums but definitely need to plan a trip to London in the next months again.
Fantastic record store with a wide selection and super friendly, very knowledgeable staff. Prices are much lower than in the shops in the city center. Without a doubt, one of the best record stores in London.
Wonderful shop, had flashbacks to Notting Hill's "Stand Out/From Zero Down", it's that good! Playing Hunger - 'Strictly from' when we walked in, you know you're in the right place, collector heaven. I found out about it via the "Yeah Man, it's Bloody Heavy" LP (good to see a bit of UK competition with 'Brown Acid'). After all, we did produce Black Sabbath. If you're into records, you have to visit this shop.
An amazing record store with a fantastic collection of vinyls. One could spend months in here and still not be able to go through all the treasures in the place. Picked up a bunch of LPs from the Rise Above catalog, and some amazing old Sabbath singles as well. Helen was super helpful and patient, and it was amazing to meet Gaz and get a Cathedral vinyl signed by him.

96 Parkway, London, NW1 7AN
A small collection of vinyl, CDs, clothes, and gear are packed into the most punk shop in Camden. Great for a browse.
Great friendly and quirky charity music store with vinyls, cassettes, audio equipment, instruments and much more.
Unexpected hidden Gem for a record pit stop soul gift while in London - all variety of vinyl records, cassetes, CD's .,.,.,.,.,., - the cool Gentlemen inside kindly packed for air travel resistance and will tell you stories of the neighborhood where its located which Amy Winehouse used to play at local pubs ...
Eclectic collection of rock memorabilia, T-shirts, CDs, records, leathers guitars, etc What's not to like...
Gone right down hill. So expensive looks good on the outset but most the stuff in there isn't for sale and what is they want top dollar for it even if is untested. £2.50 for used cassettes with missing cases. Used to be a quid each. Tried to hawk £35 out of me for blank cassettes. Rude manageress in there now. Used to be great. They are pricing the stuff like its top notch unopened NOS working in perfect condition in upstate New York

9B, 455 Wick Ln, Fish Island, London E3 2TB, UK
10/10 store ! Beautiful selection of records, new stock added regularly and friendly staff. Strongly recommend to visit if you're in London.
Thank you to Julian and Louis for helping me move on some vinyl I had sitting in boxes, not being used. They've given the records another chance to be played by someone, and they were very fair with the price they paid me. Thanks chaps!
Absolutely love this record shop which is so worth a visit, very knowledgeable and willing to help, that's not always the case in my vinyl hunting. The in-store decks to test the records were really useful. Im enjoying my bus journey back to work and will put the well deserved word out for Rock Records.
I went to find a vinyl and ended up finding more than I could manage to take home. One of the best collections in London, I'll definitely be back.
One of the best and most welcoming record shops in town!

130 Talbot Road
Good place for records. The deals are not bad, we found more deals on the other locations they have. Anyway they have a huge diversity of vinyl, CDs and DVDs.
Brilliant 👏 place 👏 great staff friendly and helpful 👍 👏 😀 👌 🙌 ticks all the boxes 📦 🙄 💯
Shipping to Canada (consistently) takes OVER 30 days and costs OVER $30!!! I'm done with this poor level of service. Zero updates once order is placed. Rough Trade ships your item with other orders to the USA, then its redistributed to you. This stupid process benefits them by saving on bulk shipping costs but your order will take >30 days to arrive!!! Placed mh final order with them December 4, still.waiting January 12!!! Ridiculous. Try Drift, Norman's, Juno, Piccadilly...anyone else who will ship cheaper but Rough Trade.
Love this record shop, best in London. Great selection. Staff are super friendly - girl with the cap really helped me out. 10/10
Lowkey legendary status… I’ve been hitting this spot for years. It’s not flashy, not trying to be cool; just one of those solid, long running shops that’s always had time for proper music. They’ve got a deep, varied selection: punk and dub, soul, indie, loads of weird leftfield stuff and for heads like me, there’s always been a bit of gold in the hip hop, garage and jungle sections too. You’ve got to dig, but that’s part of it. No big talk from the staff, just good heads who know their stock and let the music do the work. Some days I come out empty handed, other days I walk out buzzing with something I never expected to find. Still one of the spots I check when I’m in the area and when you pair it with Honest Jon’s and MVE, you’ve got a proper West London circuit for the day that’s well worth the time.
Compact, venerable independent record shop for mainstream and leftfield vinyl and CDs.

24 Denmark Street, London, WC2H 8NJ
This Rough Trade outpost is a record shop, within a garment shop. Mix of used and new records. Not a huge selection, but I got myself two used LPs that I did not have, so was quite happy with my visit. Helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Visited this shop during my recent travels to London. Struggled initially to find it as it’s located in the basement of a clothes shop. Great to be left alone to look in peace. Lots of choice both new and second hand. Purchased an Iron Maiden album (new) at a very good price. Happy to recommend this shop and as Arnie said, “I’ll be back”.
Hidden in the basement of a clothing store and still an absolute gem of a record store! I came here, not expecting much as it is in the basement - but was left surprised with the great selection of records that they had there. I bought quite a handful when I left the place and for a reasonable price too.
One of my favorite vinyl record stores. Whenever you pass near Soho, you always want to stop by Rough Trade for a couple of minutes - even if not for a purchase, then for the special atmosphere and a pleasant conversation with the staff. I often use it as a pick-up point for records and books ordered from the Rough Trade website. And don't forget that during Record Store Day you can buy something truly unique here.
This is a little hidden away as it's in the basement of a clothes shop. It offers a great selection of vinyl with a small collection of CDs.

Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL
Went to see the Jazz artist Andrew Young who changed venue at the last minute to this record shop. What a cool venue. Records, books, and a stage at the rear. If you're a creative, artist or into music this is the place to be.
A large vinyl record shop in a little side road off of Brick Lane. It has a great selection of old style records, as well as records. There is a little burger bar inside the place, and they sometimes play gigs there, too. If you are an old style music fan who wants to avoid the streaming slop, this is the venue for you.
went for the pop up show hosted by kevin abstract and sekou and it was so good staff and security where so lovely and kind and the venue it’s self was very good, i’ve been in here before to buy records and will most likely come back to get more!! such a brilliant night thank you
Awesome shop with wide variety of choises for melomaniacs. One of the best things for me - possibillity to drink good coffee and listen to music until my husband browsing shelves for more than an hour😀Stuff is welcoming. There is wc In the shop as well.
They have some great events here like album launch band performances and signings in the relaxed environment of a record shop. There's a nice little bar too. All within the old Truman Brewery complex. They also sell records!
Music emporium in old brewery with a coffee shop, also selling books and hosting in-store gigs.

14 Richmond Buildings, London W1D 3HQ, UK
Beautiful smol cafe with lovely vibes. Luckily I popped in when it wasn’t busy and I got a mocha with an apricot danish - both were tasty. The upstairs is really peaceful and such a cozy spot to chill, read and recharge your battery before heading to your next destination. The gallery and music selection is definitely worth visiting for.
Down the metal fire-escape next to the bijou coffee shop off Dean Street find this basement outfit. Find a composed and self-contained aesthetic emboldened by a flagrant pair of sentinel bad-boy speakers. An eclectic and astute inventory avoids belabouring the predictable, canonically entrenched and the ho-hum. Genre fluid. Both new and second-hand vinyl, books, accessories, ancillaries and curated bits. Nice. Here likely find the unexpected, more off-kilter, recherché and sub/micro genres curated by an astute and intrepid hand that doesn't shy away from cohabiting with the more outré fringes. Approachable, sussed and responsive. Recommended ? that’s a YES !
Absolute Gem of a spot, must place to visit in London, owners Alksei is an absolute legend of a creative, super chill guy, well travelled, professional and all around good vibes. If you’re an artist, musician, dj , producer , audiophile or any creative make sure to drop by and support this spot. Coffee and Vynil and much more, left this place feeling motivated.
Great service and amazing coffee!!!! Brilliant choice of drinks and good fresh pastries, highly recommend!!!
"It's not a location but a destination", as they describe themselves, for coffee afficionados and coffee lovers who want to try quality brew. They are coffee geeks and every cup of coffee made here is an expression of their knowledge, skills and passion. It's the place where I drunk the best coffee in my life ☕️
133 Rye Lane, London, SE15 4ST
best waxing experience ever, I come regularly for waxing I would not go anywhere else now! Jenny is so great and lovely to chat with she is super professional, studio is sparkling clean and the wax is the least painful I have ever had. Jenny always makes the vibe very easy and comfortable 🥰
Jenny is amazing! My friend suggested her to me and I'm so glad. Clearly very good at what she does and also so fun to chat to - the time flew by, minimal pain - just great vibes all around. Really informative and thorough but also taking my sensitive skin into consideration. She's wonderful!
I have been going to Jenny for a couple of years now and so grateful I came across her ! She is very informative and will let you know the best products for your skin. She offers a range of services suitable what you want and Hot Waxes are minimal pain! Great conversation, makes you feel very comfortable.
Best waxing experience I've had, hands down. She was so lovely, kind, fast, and it wasn't even painful!
Jenny is absolutely lovely the nicest beautician I have ever had, very funny and created such a vibe, I’ve found my new place.. thank you so much

98 Friary Rd, London SE15 1PX, United Kingdom
I’ve been trying to look around here for two years but it always seems to be closed, even on the Saturdays that I’ve been. The telephone number doesn’t seem to work either. :(
Brilliant shop I love it so close to home a good array of records very nice owner very polite

75 Berwick Street, W1F 8TG
Cool store with plenty of good finds. Unfortunately the staff are not as cool. The older staff member who i assume is manager/owner was rushing around the store, i watched him scold a group of customers for standing in the way of the till which made me uncomfortable how he spoke to them. I spoke to staff on the till who were snappy and seemed to have no patience to deal with me. There was apparently a limited edition vinyl to pre order which i saw on their website, no signage or anything around the store, and i darent ask after seeing the staff attitude. It’s a shame that the staff felt quite unwelcoming. I have spoken to friends who have been there, they have had the same experience! I will be taking my custom elsewhere to a more friendly record store…
It was a wonderful surprise to find this cozy vinyl record store in Soho, London. The vibe was amazing, friendly staff and lots of vinyl records for some serious digging. Prices are great too, I usually buy second hand records from the 70s and they were in very good shape. Hope to visit again soon!
Sister Ray is an iconic spot for music lovers, offering an incredible selection of vinyl records across all genres. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, making it a great place to discover new and classic music. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for browsing for hours. Highly recommended for anyone passionate about music and vinyl culture.
I had heard about this record store in London’s Soho, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The selection is incredible, and you can find some really rare and exclusive editions. A must-visit spot for music lovers — I’ll definitely be coming back!
Visiting Sister Ray always feels like a little celebration for any music lover. The atmosphere is something special: a cosy sort of chaos, shelves packed with rare releases, and a team who genuinely know their music. The staff don’t just help you find the album you’re after - they’re happy to chat about genres, suggest alternatives, and share their own discoveries. The selection is impressive, ranging from classic rock and jazz to fresh indie releases and reissues that are hard to track down anywhere else. The vinyl section is particularly delightful, with plenty of rarities and high‑quality pressings in excellent condition. The prices are fair, and the feeling that you’ve stepped into a place with a true musical soul is priceless. If you love music and appreciate atmospheric independent shops, Sister Ray is an essential stop on the map.
Specialist shop trading in a wide and varied selection of hard-to-find vinyl records and CDs.

1 Keswick Road, London
Great record store huge selection of vinyl and cds ! Helpful and knowledgeable staff would highly recommend
Great store great service and the owner & team knows there Soul Jazz and Funk music and artists (and they are open on Mondays) 🙌🏾
The best Soul, R&B, and Jazz record shop in London! Floor to ceiling vinyl and CDs, regular in-store PAs and signings. Also checkout their weekly show on Solar radio. Maurice and Lawrence are fonts of knowledge, and you'll always get a warm welcome every visit. A must if you're looking for either brand new releases or a rare classic - highly recommended.
What an experience!Amazing Recordstore, very helpful an friendly guys in there. Good vibes. I will definately come back, thank you soulbrother records for having me today!Love from the swiss guy.
Good old fashioned record shop, forget chain stores and flagship stores. Laurence has probably forgotten more than I know about, soul, jazz and funk, but is happy to chat and knows his stock inside out. First time visit fir me from North Wales but will be back next time I'm in London, loved it!
Vibrant record shop specialising in funk, soul and jazz on vinyl and CD, with in-store performances.

7 Broadwick Street, London, W1F 0DA
A fun store to visit. Sounds Of The Universe opened in 2003 in the same house where The Rolling Stones had their studio and their first audition. The store was founded by Stuart Baker, who used to sell vinyl at Camden Market before he opened this new one at Soho. Sounds of the Universe is connected to the record label Soul Jazz Records, it probably has the largest selection of Reggae, Dubstep, House, Disco, Funk and Soul, Brazilian, Latin, African and world beats in the UK. The Vinyl Factory ranked Sounds of the Universe #058 at The world’s best record shops list. A wonderful and eclectic record store worth a visit when you are in London.
A very nice used and new vinyl records shop, but a bit pricey for sure.
Wonderful shop, with a great atmosphere and accommodating service people, purchased a Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Miles Davis and Duke Ellington vinyl (they have a great selection.) Particularly happy with the friendly customer service, big thank you to Pablo who helped me find what I was looking for
This shop has been a personal favorite and that's definitely a tough choice since there are a lot of really nice shops in London. But Sounds of the universe has really good curation. Not the biggest shop but definitely one you can trust in terms of finding an interesting record 🙌
My favorite shop I visited in London. On the small side but curated well and high quality used vinyl. Listening here can be difficult while there is a station all vinyl are behind the counter so must be requested. Bring headphones and your phone. Found some nice dub, reggae and spoken word in my visit. The owner was super kind as well.
Eclectically minded store for music ranging across the globe, from sould to reggae or dubstep.

88 Parkway, London, NW1 7AN
Great record shop for beat, blues, rockabilly, R&B, and related genres. Big thanks to Martin who picked out some great garage rock 7s for me.
Cosy specialised vinyl store for everything you need around rockabilly, rocknroll and swing.
A niche music Specialist with a well represented and unusual breadth in mostly 50's and 60's Rockabilly, Rock & Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Country and Garage genres. Stock a variety of boutique and obscure labels in both contemporary and reissue music. Great selection if you're into be-bop-a-lula, likeminded kith ‘n kin, their kissin cousins, cohabiting concubines and ... maybe, Cowboy Copas ? Staff here knowledge, responsive and friendly. Prices reasonable.
Fantastic shop run by a wonderful man and his team!! A great range of stock at brilliant prices, old & new. Something for everybody!! A must if you're in London and also a fab online shop too (so no excuse not to have a browse and a buy!). Friendly, funny, knowledgeable and a really delightful atmosphere. SHOP TODAY!!
One of the finest record shops in the UK. Friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable staff. The service, range of music available and prices are excellent. This is one small business that must survive for the sanity of all their customers! Go on, treat yourself and your loved ones to some top tunes!

17 Craven Park Road, London
A nice small shop, dedicated solely to reggae. Owner takes his time to shop up, but still, a lovely place. Just come on in a bit closer to midday… mostly CDs, some vinyl.

117 Mare Street, London, E8 4RU
One of my favourite record stores in the world . Small but expertly curated. Everything is good. Friendly vibes. Only new and reissued stuff so no dusty crates, if that’s what you’re after. Can’t recommend highly enough.
This store is fantastic! I ordered a brand new record from this store and it had a scratch on it that came from the manufacturer. The store was extremely kind as well as understanding when I explained the situation to them through email. They then sent me another brand new copy of the record free of charge that was in perfect condition. They even let me keep the scratched copy too. I would definitely buy from them again. The staff is great and my entire experience was completely positive!
Located inside Mare Street Market find this trim bijou vinyl specialist. Showcasing all new vinyl, largely from boutique and independent labels and thoughtfully avoiding the "Hackney-ed", obvious and anodyne for the more adventurous, recherché and off-kilter. Researched and pinpointed stock curated by an astute and intrepid hand that doesn't shy away from cohabiting with the more outré fringes of most genres. The prices be high, perhaps mitigated by the expertise evident here while the staff are approachable, responsive and pleasant. This might be a relatively "new kid on the block" but this store already hold its ground amid the established players.
Great independent shop - we’ll stocked, friendly and helpful staff
Super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I have only ordered online and they have always gone the extra mile with any questions, queries and requests. Amazing selection and a wide variety. Can not recommend enough and can’t wait to visit the actual store one day

110 Acre Lane
This is a legendary vinyl store dedicated to reggae music in its traditional way. It hasn’t changed much since 1983, this is what makes this place so magical! You can spend hours in here digging for old and new reggae with other passionate collectors or artists passing through. There are not many places like this left in London.
Very nice and friendly and he offered very good advice and suggestions. We purchased a few I Shabba Ranks originals
Awesome record reggae shop❤️💚💛
Was helpful. He dis not have what I wanted, but told me about were to go .
Excellent shop.. vinyl reggae? Yes this is a great spot for that. Good people, good reggae. Listen before you buy? Definitely!

10 Helmsley Place, London
The front of house were patient personable and professional. Our party of three arrived separately and pushed the opening time beyond it's limit. They were flexible and accommodating. Once our order was in the food appeared in a steady flow Tapas style in the main. Without exception every dish was delightful and delucious. With the dulcet tones of Elis Regina the namesake of the head chefs mother in the background adding to the atomosphere created by the decor a great time was had by the three musketeers. This was not my first rodeo here but it was for my compadres. We'll all be back again.
Different For Sure! Bar Prices In The Record Store Are Fair, Good Place To Buy Your House Vinyls And Chill, Outside Area To Sit Chat And Smoke! Tad Cold Inside As Under A Train Arch And A Sandwich Bar Through The Side Door Also Toilets Available Too! Quite Enjoyable Vibe!
The best place to be. Excellent music, the Djs are always on point and the atmosphere is the most friendliest. As a female I always feel completely safe going on my own and have never experienced or seen any trouble . I love to be at the BBE!! Sheryl x
Good retro ambience. Has an attached sandwich bar. Live DJ and dance floor. Good collection of vinyl and records.
Love this spot. Always a vibe! Everything a ‘Melomaniac’ could ask for - records galore, great DJ booth, amazing sound system, beautiful diverse and inclusive crowd and a lovely al fresco break out space 🔊🎶 🕺 💃 🍸 🍻

20 Norwood High Street, London, SE27 9NR
Been here once for a gig and once whilst looking for a christmas present. They broadcast radio shows which can entertain you whilst you browse. Can't give it anything less than 5 stars because whilst I was browsing the guy who owns it put out a mono version of Sgt Pepper priced very reasonably, and then went in the back and got me the original insert too!
Here you're more likely to find a genuine obscurity or the unfamiliar and at a reasonable price. The 'usual' music genres, fair depth of stock (noticeably in Psych & Prog), with a high incidence of 'clean' items. Spacious and informal with a relaxed vibe. Hosts events, radio and guest DJs, serves coffee, sells books and licensed. A top-notch music destination and a hang-out to boot. Definitely worth the schlep, for sure. Revisited 6 years later and not disappointed. Undoubtedly one of London’s finest second-hand vinyl destinations. Owner is knowledgeable and engaging.
Music Books Art, Coffee. What more could you want ? A real gem of a shop, run by friendly knowledgeable people.
Best second hand record shop in South London. It's a licensed bar and serves an excellent cup of coffee. Stacked full of vinyl records and books specialist and mainstream in both media's. In the evenings, the space transforms to a venue, and it can even be described as a community hub. It has live proformance music and DJ nights. The owner is super friendly and has an incredible knowledge of all genres of music and books, fuelled by his passion in both media's. Uniquely in the corner is a live Radio station broadcasting WNBC London. It's not uncommon to see a show broadcasting live when you visit on a Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. 100% is worth a visit even to grab a great coffee. Owner Mike says he's happy when people come in to just look for nostalgic reasons. Located is a 2 mins walk from West Norwood main line rail station with fast links to London Victoria. Still rate this spot.
Excellent selection of vinyl and books. If you can't find it ask Michael and he can dig it out for you. Great coffee as you dig. The soul nights and live bands are an extra touch. Best shop in London.

Tooting Market, London

We went to see B*witched here at a tesco clubcard event. It was brilliant one of the best gigs i have been to in a long time. The door staff were very nice and well organised. Top blokes. The sound system was great and the venue is intimate.
Ordered Signed Art Edition with Print all arrived damaged, offered replacement.
Came here for a job interview, didn't get the job but I love what these guys are doing.
It doesn't exist anymore
Cool art space.

My immediate impression was this was one of the most chilled retail stores in London with no pressure or hassle from staff and a great selection of Jack White themed goods as well as some great independent music to take a punt on. Even had a little quiet shot of the Fender Triplecaster and the stage setup downstairs as I was the only one in the store. Could have spent a fortune tbh! Interestingly, I find this in a lot of places throughout London but payments are Card only - No cash taken at all. Enjoyed my visit!
Lovely and friendly staff! Really cool place. You can try out some Jack white signature pedals with a signature guitar which is a bonus. Highly recommend!
As a Canadian, on holiday in Britain we've made a conscious decision not to visit the USA for the next 3 years. Imagine how excited I was to find one of Jack's vinyl temples here in London! Fantastic staff, really interesting vinyl finds and cool accessories for the wax lover.
I come here mainly to the blue basement for live gigs. The staff here is friendly. Drinks at the bar are fair priced. There is a yellow phone booth, it is very photogenic.
Jack White brings some old school vinyl (showing my age) to Noho. Great selection of Vinyl, with only the Stripes vinyl being mainstream. Has the added bonuses of live gigs downstairs. Well worth a visit and browse.

234 Graham Road, London, E8 1BP
A small shop touching base with most genres with both second hand and a smattering of new vinyl. Though the stock holding be rather lean and the depth/spread cursory, the selection is far from mundane and predictable. The second-hand items I scrutinised all appeared, at worst, in reasonable or better condition. The prices again within acceptable parameters and complying to “industry norms.” Unlikely to exceed expectations but there again, you’re just as likely to ferret out something that skitters off piste from the same old. Certainly worth a visit.
Great shop with an interesting and always changing selection of second hand stuff in good quality and at fair prices. Decent selection of underground house/techno, I can’t speak for other genres. Lots of £5/£1 bargain bin records to hunt through too!
Found some gems here. Small shop, but decent collection based on quick browsing. Fair pricing. Would come back.
Turned up before 12 and no one was there. Checked the twitter and there was no update that it was closed. Waited untill 1.45 and a friend of the shop turned up. So I was able to look through the £1 crates in the hall and found some nice records, but didn't get to go into the main shop. Should of kept the twitter up to date.
Great shop. Nice range of genres. Fair prices. Friendly staff. I pop in at least once a month and rarely leave empty-handed.

17 Cecil Court, London, WC2N 4EZ
A super unique store that had almost everything I was looking for! The owner was so nice and checked in whenever I needed anything. The organization was super great considering the board spectrum, and I found it easy to find everything I was looking for. Great prices too!
Thank you for the excellent advice and thorough search of your stock to help me find the perfect gift! It landed extremely well and now has an adoring new owner who seems to be getting a lot of enjoyment and inspiration from it.
The seller was very kind and helpful. He went out of his way to look for a book about The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky. Even though he didn’t find it in stock, he took the time to write down the exact title so I could purchase it elsewhere. He also suggested another book on Stravinsky, which I bought out of excitement. Later, when I changed my mind, he kindly agreed to refund me without any problem. Really amazing customer service, very professional, and they have an excellent selection of books. Highly recommended!
A cool place with a lot of sheet music. They mainly focus on older sheet music with a lot of Mozart and Bach. They also got a lot of sax solos transcribed and a lot of piano jazz. The main thing i did'nt find was romantical music. They only had a couple of Mahler symphonies and not much more.
Very friendly and helpful on the phone, and they had the book I was after at a very good price secondhand and were happy to reserve it for me to collect later.

268 Chiswick High Rd., Chiswick, London W4 1PD, UK
Lovely local record shop with a great choice (esp classical) and they were able to supply some Beatles albums to me in fantastic condition at very reasonable prices. Delighted to have such a friendly helpful local business so close.
Can't really comment on the general selection as I'm not a very wide music listener, that being said there wasn't much electronic. Friendly shop assistant, nice place to browse and try out a few records. Will be back.
Ave! Great hidden place in the bookshop. Good selection of Hard Rock and Metal! 🖤🤘
Nice Little shop. Good range of vinyl classical, Rock Jazz. Slightly random pricing but not too expensive generally. Enthusiastic friendly staff.
A nice little hidden gem of a record store hidden in the basement of Bookcase, variable but fair prices across all genres along with outright bargains, a decent stock of 7" singles and a good selection of good quality classical music make it worth a visit!

203 Deptford High Street, London, SE8 3NT
Popped to Deptford to visit another record store that turned out not to be open… had a wander up the road to visit these guys for the first time and a cracking little record shop. Lots to like, fair prices and a couple gents behind the till more than happy to help and chat. Will be back for that Royksopp and Lemonjelly when you get hold of them 😉
Phillipe was super knowledgeable and fun, and he gave me a great price for my vinyl. The whole process was easy, and he took the records away straight away. Highly recommend!
Really good varied record shop , all reasonably priced. Very nice staff too. Will definitely visit again as it's rare to find stuff on my wants list at decent prices .
I'd be more than happy to recommend Philippe of Upside Down Records. He gave me a decent price for my record collection today and also took a couple of pairs of speakers. I felt very comfortable dealing with him.
Phillipe and his dog Nessa bought my 500+ LP collection at the best price offered upfront by any dealer I contacted. Recommended!

85 Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL
Cool little find as I was walking back from Bethnal Green. The shop has a good selection of vinyl and it was nice to meet Paul, who is engaging, friendly and knowledgeable. I would need more time crate digging, now I know the location. Will be back!
I wish I had more time to explore! This place is gigantic and there is such much great vintage to see! It is a must for any vintage lover
It's a nice vintage market were you can get vinyls at good prices. You do have to know what to look for. When I visited them they tended to have more classical genre but I guess this was selling more..
Mostly bootlegs and fake new pressings in older sleeves. Would avoid if you want original, legitimate records. Having said that, had some cool bootlegs of stuff not otherwise attainable on vinyl.
Good place for vintage clothes and a lot of vinyl here !

Brushfield St, London E1 6AA, UK
Excellent seller. Very quick delivery. Record arrived very well packaged thank you. I would definitely recommend this business
Ordered 3 posters online. It’s been 2 weeks and they still have not arrived. Poor communication from company. No clue when I’ll receive it. Would not recommend.
The album I requested was out of stock but I was kept updated. Received my album a few days later in what must be the best packaging I have ever seen! Thank you so much for brilliant service! Would definitely recommend this store
Ordered the Lana Del Rey Coachella performance and it’s perfect! The vinyl arrived less than 48 hours later in amazing condition and was packaged extremely securely 📦 The sound quality of this is great and it’s such a special addition to my collection. LOVE having the Lana and Billie duets to keep forever! Would HIGHLY recommend 🌟
Fantastic service, great comms, super fast delivery and the album was perfect. Would happily buy again from them.

46 Cheshire Street, London
Good shop, with excellent, varied selection of records, new and second-hand. Very interesting stuff and a nice guy to buy from. Many thanks!
Insanely good selection. I was traveling and had to keep my purchases to a minimum but was able to find an LP i'd been looking for and was stoked on it. The gentleman working was really really kind and we chatted about the artist whose record I was purchasing. He made a few recommendations and I took then down for further listening. All in all I had a really wonderful experience!
Fantastic little record and vinyl store located in the heart of the Columbia flower market. They have a wide range of genres and options for different budgets. They also offer other goods like posters and bags. The staff are excellent and very helpful too. I would highly recommend supporting your local independent businesses!
One of my fav record store in London, top and wide selection. If you’re into leftfield music, just go there. +++ run by a very kind and helpful people. 10/10.
Customised, stylish bright interior reflected in the decidedly non-commercial inventory of both new and scrutinised second-hand vinyl. Dismissing the obvious and favouring more obscure artists, genres, imprints and editions. A credible selection of divergent late 1970/80/90’s sub-genres and their subsequent associated fellow travellers and kith ‘n kin. Somewhat a niche specialist catering to fellow enthusiasts and after all, that’s what it’s all about. The jaded, the adventurous and neophyte listener likely to find an intriguing new world of sound in a pleasant surround here.

501 Cambridge Heath Road, London, E2 9BU

69 Broad lane, London
Nice and cosy. What Zen doesn't show in flashy stuff it makes up for tenfold in good vibes. Owner is a big music head, happy to play you any style he has and you're into.
Always loved this place and now looking forward to checking back in with robert first time in 5 years but will you be open mate?
One of the best places in London to get Vinyl. Robert the owner certainly know his music. Zen is also on the net via Discogs, if you can't make it to this wonderful shop.
Great store, all genres of amazing music and the gentleman who ran this place was a great bloke! Pulled me a bunch of different records to one side that he thought might be of interest, then we stood and listened to them in the store whilst trading stories about music. I left with a record from an artist I’d never heard of and now can’t stop playing it - 10/10 experience
Great little hidden gem with a nice selection of vinyl of Soul and Reggae. Robert, the owner, is a good guy who will go out of his way to recommend some records to you, which you can play in the shop. The selection I bought was reasonably priced and will be paying more visits here again soon
